Meet the Makers: Lina - Spa Design Consultant & Project Manager

7 September 2026

Growing up in Thessaloniki, Greece, creativity was part of everyday life for our spa design consultant and project manager. From organising theatre evenings to designing a DIY playground with the neighbourhood children, those early experiences laid the foundation for a career in design.

I am the first child of a family of 3 children. I was raised in Thessaloniki Greece, a coastal city with a population of 1 million. My neighbourhood was an urban environment, with limited parks, greenery or playgrounds. However, it was a very safe and welcoming neighbourhood with lots of children! Most of the days after school, I was gathering with a group of kids from the neighbourhood. We had formed a “kids club” and I was the leader! I was always initiating some sort of creative project with my friends. Thankfully, we didn’t have mobile phones back then to kill our time – we had to be creative and social :) We organised theatre evenings for our parents to watch, created artwork to exhibit and sell and other creative projects of that sort. We even constructed our own DIY playground (which I designed of course;) using wood, tires, bricks and other loose items that we found around the neighbourhood. I guess that’s where my creativity found ground to initially unfold and develop from an early age, leading me to later on pursue an education and career around design.

From Engineering to Design

I followed a Bachelors and Masters degree in Product & Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean in Greece. I was attracted to this specific study because it was combining knowledge from different arts and science fields, bringing them together for the creation of new products or services. My studies contained a very broad range of courses, from Mechanical Engineering, Materials science, Design, Ergonomics, Art, Graphics, Branding and more. I formed a global understanding across different disciplines, making me capable of understanding the perspective and language of different people that I get to work with in my job - end clients, architects, engineers, contractors, builders, etcetera.

Growing Together

After finishing my studies, I worked as a freelance designer for various clients. I designed furniture, light fixtures and children’s playground equipment. However, I was looking to expand my horizons outside of Greece. I found an internship in 2011 in Amsterdam at our company then called “4SeasonsSpa”. The company was then newly found, we were producing a small range of whirlpools and needed an all-round designer to help them out with marketing-related content, as well as with the further development of the product line. I felt that the spa world would be a very interesting field to work on and so I joined!

Since then, I have been growing and professionally evolving together with the company. As my experience was growing bigger over the years, so were the projects we worked on becoming more interesting and demanding, so it has been an organic parallel growth, if I look back at it.

I work at Seable&Co mainly as (spa) design consultant and in parallel as project manager for the execution/production of few projects. I also support Sales & Marketing for the co-creation of the company’s promotional material, such as the Seable&Co book, brochures and presentations for important clients among others.

At my role as a spa design consultant, I help client teams and architects develop their spa project further, from concept to detail. I provide them with options and input on various aspects of the spa design such as the overall experience, how to optimize the area’s layout/routing, ideas on possible unique features to include, functionality, ergonomics, as well as technical input on equipment, materials, etc.

Passion and Precision

My passion is to bring value to the projects I work on by sharing my knowledge, experience and ideas. I am driven by getting things done well, on time, and with attention to detail and I always like to add some surprising detail or idea on the table that will spark the client’s enthusiasm and raise the energy and excitement for the project, with the goal to ultimately exceed the initial expectations! What brings me satisfaction is to see clients being happy and grateful with the help provided.

Designing with a Strong Concept

An exciting project I recently worked on is the creation of a 3000 m2 seaside spa along the Dutch coast, overlooking the North Sea. The real estate developers approached us to help them create a unique spa concept inspired by the sea and the coastal surroundings! I cannot reveal many details of it due to confidentiality but it is truly a unique project, where innovative ideas have been shared with the client that have raised their enthusiasm!

I began the work with studying the projects context – the location and surroundings, client target group, building limitations (that lead to opportunities ;), study of competitors or comparable facilities. Conclusions made during that stage led to the creation of a well-formed concept.

Starting the design development from a more conceptual ground first, ensuring there is a strong concept and vision before moving on with further detailing, is for me the best way to approach a project. When a concept is conceived and established as a first foundational step in the process, inspiring ideas that match this concept come almost effortlessly, like falling into place.

Looking Ahead

What I truly like is designing and developing interactive experiences—from the initial concept down to the smallest details. So far, I’ve mainly applied this approach to spa projects, but the same principles can be extended to the full yacht exterior as well, for example.

If we could get involved earlier in the yacht design process, I would love to help shape outdoor living solutions that adapt to different needs throughout the day, the seasons, or even the yacht’s geographic location—whether it's anchored in the Mediterranean or navigating the Arctic. There’s so much potential for innovation when we start thinking of the yacht exterior as one whole interactive environment – similar in a way to a spa area:)

In parallel, there is the opportunity for me to take over the execution of more complicated projects - as a project manager - so I am looking forward to growing and learning even more in that area too.
